Mingo National Wildlife Refuge is 21,676 acres of bottomland hardwood, swamp and wetland. Mingo lies in a linear basin formed in an ancient abandoned channel of the Mississippi River. It houses an array of plants and animals, such as white-tailed deer, waterfowl, small reptiles, and bald eagles. Activities at Mingo include fishing, hunting, a 20 mile Auto Tour Route, our boardwalk nature trail, wildlife observation, photography, and environmental educational activities.
